Transferring Ownership of an OHV

The person who is transferring the title or an interest in an OHV (the seller) must:

  • Sign the certificate of title in the correct space on the back of the certificate and…
  • Have his or her signature notarized.

The person receiving ownership of the OHV (the buyer) must:

  • Apply to the local County Treasurer’s office for a certificate of title, license plate, and registration decal within 40 days from the date of purchase.
  • Have a temporary decal affixed to the vehicle until the permanent decal is received. With the temporary decal, the OHV may be operated legally without a certificate of title, license plate, and registration decal.
