Dual Registration

If you remove the wheels or tires from an OHRV and replace them with tracks, cleats, or skis, you must meet certain requirements before the vehicle can be operated legally on any state-approved snowmobile trail. The OHRV must:

  • Be registered as a snowmobile and…
  • Meet the legal definition of a snowmobile such that, with the tracks on, it is 54 inches in width or less and has a net weight that does not exceed 1,200 pounds.

If you operate your machine as a tracked OHRV on snowmobile trails in the winter and also as a wheeled OHRV at other times, you must:

  • Register it as both an OHRV and a snowmobile and…
  • Display both the OHRV and snowmobile decals in the proper locations.
