Responding After an Accident

If an ATV or a snowmobile accident results in personal injury or death, the operator must:

• Stop their ATV or snowmobile immediately at the scene of the accident and…
• Give their name, address, and registration number to anyone injured and to the owner of any property damaged by the accident and…
• Report the accident immediately by the quickest means to the nearest law enforcement officer and…
• Render reasonable assistance to an injured person(s).

In an accident where there is property damage to physical property or another vehicle estimated to cost $1,000 or more, not bodily injury or death, the operator must report the accident in writing to MDIFW within 72 hours, using the proper accident report form.
