Required Lights

The following conditions are required regarding ATV and snowmobile headlight and taillight equipment.

• At least one, but not more than two, headlights in working order and…
• One or more taillights in working order.

ATVs and snowmobiles must display their lights as follows.

• A person may not operate a snowmobile that is not equipped with at least one headlight capable of casting a white beam for a distance of at least 100 feet directly ahead of the snowmobile.
• Lights are required during the period from one-half hour after sunset to one-half hour before sunrise.
• Lights are required at any time when, due to insufficient light or unfavorable weather conditions caused by fog or otherwise, other persons, vehicles, and other objects are not clearly discernible for a distance of 500 feet ahead.
